Basic Uniform & Camp Out Checklist
(New Scouts)
- Uniform
- Required:
- Shirt (long or short sleeves)
- Pants (or shorts)
- Socks
- Red Epaulets
- Belt
- Slide for scarf (Scarf is provided by the Troop)
- Patched (See Scout Handbook for placement)
- Council - "Greater Western Reserve"
- Troop Numbers - "7" & "5"
- Equipment
- Scout Handbook (only mandatory item)
- Basic Personal Camping Gear & Silva type Scout Compass
- Knives/Axes are prohibited until scout reeives his "Totin Chip" card
- Use of the Uniform (including scarf!)
- To all meeting, unless told otherwise
- Traveling to & from Camp (can change on arrival)
- All Outings, Field Trips, & other Troop Activities
- Wear with dress shoes or boots (sneakers are Unacceptable)
- Must be worn for all Boards of Review & Courts of Honor
- Camping Checklist (weekend)
- Sleeping Bag - Outdoor type (full length pad is optional, but it is the best way to stay dry in heavy rain)
- Rain Poncho/Jacket, & Swim socks/Sandals if lake/river/swimming
- Flashlight
- Socks & Underwear - two each, packed in Zip Lock bags
- Boots - especially if rainy weather, if not, sneakers are OK
- Jeans & shirt - sweats are a good lightweight backup
- Sweater and/or jacket - plan on dressing in layers
- Pack
- Frame Pack is optional
- Duffle Bag is OK, unless backpacking or remote site camping
- Please see Leaders before buying a pack!!!
- Toiletries - Motel/sample sizes of Ivory Soap (unscented soap
is very important), Toothpaste, floss, depleted roll of toliet paper,
and toothbrush. Seperate from other gear in ZipLock Bags.
- Plate, cup (not collapsible), and untensil set
- Small towel - in ZipLock bag
- Insect Repellant and sun block (no aerosol cans)
- Required Medications (Advise Scout Leader!!!)
- Canteen - optional (wide mouth Nalgene style water bottle is much better)
- First Aid Kit (each Scout will eventually need to make one for rank)
- Compass - silva type, not military type
- Garbage bags - at least one each: kitchen & leaf size
- Wear complete uniform (Class "A" with scarf)
- Scout Handbook in ZipLock Bag
- Things NOT to bring or do for campouts
- Candy or food
- Electronic Games
- Knives/Axes if Totin Chip has not been earned
- Personal Tents
- Over pack or allow your parents to pack for you
